Drymen, Loch Lomond

Drymen lies to the South East of Loch Lomond in and is a popular picturesque village with interesting shops, pubs and restaurants. The West Highland Way runs through Drymen and it marks the start of the East loch-side road for those who wish to visit the East of Loch Lomond, Balmaha and Rowerdennan.

Drymen almost certainly owes its origin to the low water levels permitting travellers to Ford Endrick Water just below the village before it flows into the Loch. 1734 brought Drymen it’s first pub with a stone bridge and church following in 1765 and 1771 respectively.

Halfway between Drymen and Glasgow is the Glengoyne distillery and this malt whisky distillery is unquestionably worth visiting. Gelngoyne distillery produces the world famous Glengoyne single malt, an award winning Scottish malt whisky and is open to visitors all year round with hourly tours 10:00 – 16:00 Mon to Sat and 12:00 – 16:00 Sundays.
