Gartocharn, Loch Lomond

If you are planning to stay on the shores of Loch Lomond, in the heart of the country, Gartocharn is the place for you. This tranquil village is only 30 minutes from Glasgow International Airport, via the excellent road network, and only minutes from the local Railway Station.

On our doorstep there is Golf, Fishing, Horse Riding, Cycling, Hillwalking, Loch Cruising, Boat Hire and Water Sports. A unique view of the Loch is to be obtained from Duncryne Hill (known to locals as "The Dumpling").

There are walks in Mugdock Country Park (which has a herd of Highland Cattle), the nearby Campsie Fells or, for the more adventurous, climb Ben Lomond, Scotland's most southerly Munro.

Spend a few days here and enjoy trips to Stirling and the Trossachs, taking in the Castle, Wallace Monument, Safari Park and sail Loch Katrine, or simply wander or ride through the magnificent Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. Inchmahome Priory is situated on an island in the middle of the Lake of Menteith and once sheltered the infant Mary Queen of Scots.

For a change of pace, visit Glasgow, the City of Culture and Architecture or Edinburgh, Scotland's Capital, with its Castle and Famous Festival. Next day you could try a visit to Scotland's rugged West Coast and Sea Lochs, which could include Inverary (the Duke of Argyll's Castle) and the Town Jail, the fishing port of Oban and the haunting grandeur of Glencoe.

Explore the home of Scotland's famous Bard, Rabbie Bums. At Alloway in Ayrshire, see his restored home. While in the area visit historic Culzean Castle where Eisenhower stayed during World War IL The Ayrshire Coast is littered with world class Golf Courses.
